100 Household Surveys in Pilot

Inclusive Energy Solutions

Over 2.4 billion people around the world still depend on solid fuels, such as wood, charcoal, kerosene or coal for their daily cooking needs. At the same time, heatwaves are becoming more frequent and intense, placing increased pressure on households that lack access to safe, affordable cooling. We are building a proof of concept for a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) that helps us understand how energy is accessed, used, and paid for, directly from the perspectives of households in South Africa and India. Through a citizen science approach, we engage communities to surface the real conditions people face and to co-create more inclusive energy solutions for clean cooking and safe cooling.
